"No Baskethoop"

This day is historic.  We attended a sporting event that Charlie did not like!  Orginally we planned to go see Charlie's first hockey game tonight, but college basketball tickets fell into our laps at about 3pm.  We haven't taken him to that sport yet either, so we were all game.  Then we got there.  And Charlie started freaking out.  He very clearly told us in words and with body language that he wanted to GO HOME immediately!  It was very loud and they dimmed the lights for the players to be announced, so he and I went into the hallway where it was less loud and less dark.  He continued freaking out in the hallway but to a lesser degree.  We went back inside.  He continued to freak out.  He and I left again, this time for a long time.  At no time could I put him down.  His phrase is "carry you!" when he wants me to carry him.  He eventually settled down and put his head on my shoulder, and I assumed he was just very tired.  We went back inside, and after about 5-10 minutes of more freaking out where we kept telling him we weren't  leaving again (until half-time), he fell asleep in my arms.  In a crowded, VERY LOUD arena.  While I covered his ears with my hands.

He couldn't have been more thrilled than he was on the way out.

  1. Perhaps the noise was just too much for him. Football and baseball are outside events so a different noise level. Has he been to any other inside sporting events?
