Charlie's first farm show

Charlie got to attend his first Pennsylvania Farm Show this past week with me and Grandpa.  It was well worth the long trip up, also of course, because we got to see Grandma Molly and 3 sets of friends who we wouldn't have seen if we hadn't made the trip.  (We saw our friend Woody and his sister Layla on the way up, we caught up with our NICU friend Dalton who lives in PA along with his family, and we got to see my good friend Jessica from my George Mason days and her daughter Mariel on the way back south.)

We started with the antique tractors in the main arena. Charlie was a little nervous here.

Turkeys! (You probably can't see them but you can see Charlie was excited!)
Here's a nice sheep!

They even had alpacas!
Mooo!
This was cool- the baby ducks walked up the steps and then they slid down the slide on the other side.

Lots of chickens! (Charlie asked to go back to the chickens a few times!)

There was a display that had free mini golf.  The guy at the desk gave me a "look" when I brought my little guy up to golf, but Charlie hit the ball better and farther on the first try than the 3 teenagers in front of him did!  This leftie knows what to do!

Inspecting the next hole before teeing off

The butter sculpture!  All donated by Land O Lakes and is put to good use afterward (but not consumed by humans).

There was also a carousel! This was Charlie's second ride ever on one.

Definitely a highlight- tractors!! Afterward, we asked multiple times what animals he saw at the farm show and his answer was always "tractors!" :)  There were some big ones, but none quite as big as what I remember from childhood.
Farm Show 1986: Me on the left, age 6,  my sister on the right, age 4.  Now THAT'S a tractor wheel!

The only thing Charlie missed out on was the food.  I enjoyed it though for both of us, especially the potato donut.
